Amador County has a high percentage of old Zinfandel vines. Some of the Zinfandel vineyards in this county are more than 125 years old. These old vines produce intense flavors allowing winemakers to make the outstanding Zinfandels for which this area is famous.

This is one of the small Amador County wineries with great wines at very affordable prices. There’s a beautiful view of the Sierra foothills. You will probably be served by the owner, who is friendly and knowledgeable. This Plymouth winery produces Zinfandels, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Syrah. The Sauvignon Blanc is an award-winning wine and a great value at only $10. Our personal favorite is the Esola Syrah.

The gallery contains 3,000 square feet of paintings, prints, sculptures, and ceramics.

This Amador winery is a great place for a picnic. There are picnic tables overlooking a lake with large trees and an expansive lawn area. Next door to the winery is a bed and breakfast, Amador Harvest Inn, operated by the same owners as the winery. We cannot go to Amador County without stopping at Deaver Vineyards to buy some of their wonderful Ports. Taste the Ports and you won’t be able to resist either!

This is one of our favorite Amador County wineries. It’s a lovely Tuscan style tasting room, nicely landscaped with tables for outdoor dining scattered around two ponds with fountains. There’s an excellent bistro to enjoy a tasty lunch of sandwiches, pasta, soups, and salads. The gift shop has some high quality items to purchase for your home. They have many varietals to taste and always have barrel tasting of the futures they are selling by the case. We love the Barbera and Jake’s Old Vine Zinfandel.
