Learn about Chardonnay wine. Chardonnay is a popular white wine. As you shop for wine, you'll find many choices of this varietal. Take a look at our top picks in each price range.
Chardonnay Description
Chardonnay is more full bodied than other white wines. It typically has flavors of lemon or grapefruit. Fermentation in new oak barrels results in a rich buttery taste you'll hear described as toasty, vanilla, apple, nutty, or coffee. If aged in French oak, the wine will have a milder flavor than in American. Some prefer to use no oak at all resulting in a lighter, crispier flavor.
Orgin
Chardonnay originated from the Burgundy area of France. Today there are many world-class Chardonnays being produced in California.
Food and Wine Pairing:
Chardonnay goes well with chicken, seafood, and fish.
