The wine making industry in Oregon seriously began in the 1960s. Today it is the third largest wine producing state in the United States. It's best known for its premium Pinot Noir, but you'll find a large variety of different wine varietals being produced in Oregon.

While wine tasting in Oregon, consider taking in a play at the Ashland Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The season runs from February through October with a variety of plays being produced. About half of the plays are typically written by William Shakespeare. The productions are fabulous fun!

Columbia Gorge Wineries
Known as the "world of wine in 40 miles", the Columbia Gorge Wine Trail includes wineries both in Oregon and the state of Washington. The Columbia Gorge is a scenic canyon of the Columbia River that forms the border between these two states. It's a great place for wine tasting with many wineries to choose from.







Dundee Hills Wine Trail
Take the short drive from Portland where you can sample fine wines and beautiful scenery at Dundee Wineries. You'll find over 25 Oregon wineries in this area located on the western side of the Willamette Valley.







Go wine tasting in Oregon's Eola-Amity Hills wine region. This sub-appellation of the the Williamette Valley stretches from the city of Amity south to an area west of Salem, the capital of Oregon. This American Viticultural Area is located in both Polk County and Yamhill County.







Yamhill-Carlton Wine Region
Located in the northern area of the Willamette Valley, this wine region is an hour's drive from Portland. Wineries are scattered in and around the towns of Carlton, Yamhill, and Gaston. There are lots of wineries to visit!







Explore the McMinnville Wine Trail located in Yamhill County. McMinnville WineriescMinnville wineries are part of Oregon's Willamette Valley AVA. You'll find it easy to drive from winery to winery with many of them located in the small town of McMinnville. Interested in aviation? Be sure to stop at Evergreen Winery where you will find an aviation museum that houses the Spruce Goose and numerous other planes, a space museum, picnic area, and indoor water park.







Rogue Valley Wineries
Rogue Valley Wine Region is in Southern Oregon. In fact, it begins at the Californa border. This is a gorgeous area with many fabulous wineries. Ashland, home to the famous Shakespeare festival is in this area. Why not enjoy a wine tour that includes both wine and theater?







Applegate Valley Wineries
Applegate Valley is a sub-appellation of the larger Rogue Valley AVA. This valley stretches 50 miles from the California border to the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. Discover great wines at the wineries in this region. You'll find that the weather is moderate with a warm, dry growing season. Days are hot and nights are cool.







Umpqua Valley
Many of the Umpqua Valley wineries are located along the Umpqua River. This wine region is part of the Southern Oregon AVA and is located in Oregon's Douglas County. Roseburg is the largest city in this area.







Chehalem Mountains
This wine region is located within the northern section of the larger Willamette Valley American Viticultural Area. You'll find these Oregon wineries in Beaverton, Cornelius, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Newberg, Portland, Sherwood, and Tigard. This area is well known for their Pinot Noir, but you'll enjoy many other wines as well.





Portland Wine Tour
