We have eaten at Shadowbrook many times over the years. It’s the perfect place for relaxing and spending time with the special person in your life.
In addition to the restaurant, there is a bar and lounge with live entertainment on weekends. You can also enjoy a drink outside on the patio next to the creek. On our last visit we started out with their famous artichoke soup. Throughout the evening a server walked around with a basket of warm sour dough rolls and soft butter making sure you were supplied with all the bread you want.
Steve ordered the Chicken Breast Oscar. It was a boneless breast topped with Dungeness crab meat, avocado, and béarnaise sauce. I decided on Fresh Red Trout Amandine, one of the daily specials. It was pan seared with brown butter. Both dinners were served with fresh vegetables and wild rice pilaf. Everything was delicious.
For dessert Steve tried the Jack Daniel’s Mud Pie, which was coffee crunch ice cream topped with a whiskey-chocolate sauce. It was a large dessert, which we could have shared easily. I chose the chocolate crème brulee. I usually order the traditional vanilla bean crème brulee. While the chocolate was yummy, my favorite is still the vanilla.
Our server, Brandon, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and the area. We recommend this great restaurant in Santa Cruz. Plan a visit soon; you will not be disappointed. Shadowbrook creates the ambiance that is perfect for romantic getaways.
