Restaurant Mirepoix was an exciting discovery for us. It’s always a delight to discover a fabulous restaurant, especially when it is a surprise. We recently spent some time celebrating our anniversary in Sonoma County. The inn keeper at our bed and breakfast recommended Mirepoix. It’s located in a charming house in the town of Windsor. We were lucky to get last minute reservations.
The charming little house has a cozy atmosphere. Make reservations in advance as the dining room only seats 24. During warm weather, they also have seating on the outdoor patio.
Mirepoix is owned by Executive Chef, Matthew Bousquet who creates traditional French Bistro food with a special twist focusing on fresh seasonal food. His wife, Bryan, is co-owner and also serves as General Manager.
As soon as our salad arrived, we knew we were in for a dining treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the salad of carmelized onion tart with figs, argula, and goat cheese. Steve loved his hanger steak covered with a bordelaise sauce and accompanied with crispy frites.
I ate every bite of my crispy skinned trout with warm potato salad in a radish emulsion and chive foam. We shared a crème brulee and were equally pleased with the rich vanilla flavor.
The service was excellent. The served was friendly and knowledgable about the food and the every changing wine selections. The Pinot Noir from a local winery complimented our dinner well.
The highest tribute to any dining establishment is whether or not you would return. Well, we would travel to Sonoma just to enjoy another dinner at this outstanding restaurant. This Sonoma County restaurant is a place that you definitely want to try.
