Wine Country Accomodations, San Luis Obispo
Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort
We discovered a unique resort that we are happy to recommend as Wine Country Accomodations in San Luis Obispo. The special thing about this resort is the hot mineral springs. Every room has a private hot tub. Ours was a natural mineral water hot tub on the patio just outside our room.
After a fun-filled day of wine tasting in San Luis Obispo, we checked into the resort. Our room was named Zany. This struck us as a friendly, more personal approach than assigning us a room number.
We walked up a wooded path to our room and were soon soaking in our private tub of warm mineral water. Talk about relaxing.it was heavenly!
We were so comfortable that we did not feel like making the effort to drive somewhere for dinner. We decided to eat in the resort restaurant. What a splendid idea that turned out to be! The restaurant was so fabulous that weve added it to our list of Great Restaurants. (You can read more about the restaurant by clicking on the link.)
The amenities at these wine country accomodatiions are many. There are regularly scheduled classes in yoga, tai chi, and Pilates. They are complimentary for guests of the resort. You can meditate in the Labyrinth, an outdoor tool for calming the mind and relaxing the body.
There are guided as well as self-guided hiking at the resort. You can explore the Central Coast floral, wild life, and learn about this areas history.
Spa facilities are available. This includes facials and massages. I had a massage in the spa on our second evening (while Steve snuck to the resort restaurant for a second crme brulee).
The massage facilities were fantastic. The only sounds I could hear were the sounds of the soft background music playing. My personal peeve is trying to relax during a massage and being forced to overhear conversations of other people. It was peaceful, the masseuse communicated well to make sure the pressure was right for me, and the 60 minute massage was over before I knew it.
This is an historic resort. During the 1920s the resort was called San Luis Hot Springs. It was frequented by Hollywood legends such as W.C. Fields and Charlie Chaplin.
