Amador County Wine Tasting
Amador County is gorgeous in the spring. You'll find fresh mountain air, great wineries, fascinating caverns, historic sites, and unique shops and restaurants.
Amador is one of our most favorite destinations for wine tasting. There are lots of wineries located near each other and (even more important)...there are some truly wonderful wines waiting to be discovered.
Young's Vineyard
This small winery specializes in small lots of premium red wines. They will quickly sell out of their most popular wines within weeks of their release. You're in luck...this weekend, April 30 & May 1 is their annual Release Party. Enjoy live music, fabulous food, and great wines. Bring a blanket and chairs and be prepared to relax and stay awhile. $15 per person.
Villa Toscano
Down the street from Young's you will want to stop at Villa Toscano. The lovely Tuscan villa also houses a deli where you can purchase a lunch to enjoy surrounded by the pond and gardens. You'll find a large variety of both white and red wines to taste. A bonus - they always offer wine tasting from the barrel as well.
Story Winery
You don't want to miss the beautiful view of the Consumnes River Canyon from this winery. Story is located north of the historic town of Plymouth. Picnic at one of the tables set under towering oak trees. Bring you own lunch supplies or pre-order your picnic lunch and have your made-to-order lunch waiting when you arrive.
Deaver Vineyards
Deaver Vineyards is located next to a large pond surrounded by grass. It's another great place to have a picnic. They are best known for their Zinfandel, but produce a variety of different wines. Our favorites are their unique California style Ports. There's a charming B & B at the winery as well. Make a weekend trip and stay at their Amador Harvest Inn.
Avio Vineyards & Winery
This small family winery produces Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Port. The owners are usually pouring wine in the tasting room and are eager to tell you about their wines. Take a walk through the vineyards and enjoy the fabulous setting. Book a stay at their unique Carriage House, a private, one-room guest house located at the winery.
